I never voted for President Reagan. I was a registered Democrat at the time. God, was I a moron.

Could you imagine another 4 years of Jimmy Carter???

Could you imagine 4 or 8 years of Fritz Mondale...???

Makes me shiver just thinking about it.

President Reagan pulled the country (at least the part of the country that later became the "red" states...) out of its self-indulgent self-loathing. He made it clear that Communism was evil, especially in the incarnation of the Soviet Union.

And then he DID SOMETHING ABOUT IT. The Soviet Union went down with not a single shot fired. We put the engines of American capitalism to work and spent them into the ground.

I wish I could take a "do over" on some of the heated political discussions I had with in the 1980s with people who DARED to defend any of this man's policies. Ah, well... hindsight and all that.

Rest in peace, Mr. President.
