A Break...

It's off to a friend's at Lake Rathbun for walleye fishing, scouting out some deer stands and a few cocktails.
Howard Wins!

This is really good news. You got to love those Aussies. Now if they could just repeal their idiotic gun laws!

Mon Dieu!

Quelle est cette odeur ? Ah, elle est bien, elle est juste ma propres hypocrisie et corruption.

Ah, a laissé la victoire svp de Kerry!
John Kerry's best line of the night

I'm a lawyer too!"

What a tin ear. Right now Bush is killing him.

Kerry: Class war! Class war! Class war! Top 2 Percent. Wealthiest people in the country. 25 billion givaway to corporations . Enron! ENRON!

He's looking into the camera and promising NO new taxes for families earning less than $200,000 a year.

Bush looks good. Confident.

Kerry: What's hurting business is the cost of health care. What? People are sick. Rich people like the President Charlie (... Gibson - the moderator) and myself will pay more. Everyone else in the hall will not pay more. Hmmm... does Kerry really think there's no one else in the room that makes $200,000 a year...?

Bush: I own a timber company?

It seemed to me that Bush won on low expectations on his performance. The President looked in control and at some points as if he was having fun. Kerry did not mess up and at some points looked good. I would venture to say that it never looked as if Kerry was having any fun.

I would not be surprised to see a modest boost to Bush in the polls. We'll see.
The Des Moines Register Ministry of Truth

Get this.

We live in Orwellian times, where obvious falsehoods are asserted brazenly as the truth.
Man, the irony just drips from the page.

The rest of the piece could be a liberal editorial circa 1969. Just swap out the word Vietnam for Iraq. Get out. Try not to leave a mess if you can... but get out.

One wonders if they actually read the report. Especially the sections that cover Saddam's plans to reconstitute his programs as soon as sanctions were lifted. Remember the freakin' howl about how the sanctions were killing tens of thousands of children...?

Did the REBels read the parts that covered the Oil for Food scandal? Nope, not a world about that because it does not neatly into the Democrat talking points.

If you think that this country... our country... is only a selfish force for evil in the world, than this world view makes perfect sense.
Sullivan... uh...responds

I should be plain. I have never trusted Kerry on gay civil rights, still
don't... I am aware of his slippery, unprincipled and vacuous stand on
civil rights for gay couples. (This, of course, is indistinguishable from his
slippery, unprincipled and vacuous stand on almost every other issue as well). I
trust Kerry about as much as I trusted Bill Clinton. The similarity is not just
that both Bush and Kerry oppose equal marriage rights for gay couples but that
neither have ever given a single argument in defense of their position. In
general I have been struck both by how ignorant Kerry has been about some basic facts - like the content of the Missouri amendment, for example - and how eager
to pander to both sides. Surprise.

The difference, however, is obvious. Kerry supports civil unions that contain all the rights and responsibilities of civil marriages; Bush doesn't. In fact, Bush has endorsed a federal amendment that would bar both gay marriage and any civil arrangements that, like civil unions or even domestic partnerships, would give gay couples even basic protections. So the difference is stark. And, of course, the constitutional amendment is a HUGE deal.

Okay Andrew, allow me be blunt.

You're supporting a man whose positions (your words, not mine) are "...slippery, unprincipled and vacuous...". You're dumping Bush because he made a political move to solidify his wacky fundamentalist base during a hugely important election?

And, how did he do this...? By supporting a goofy Constitutional Amendment that has a snowball's chance in hell of passing. On this you're going to support Kerry? In a time of War...?

Grow the hell up Mr. Sullivan and get some friggin' perspective, for God's sake. Yes, voting in a Presidential election is a Hobson's choice. It always is.

But... using your position to strongarm cultural change in times like these because it suits your lifestyle and lifespan strikes me as selfish, vain and not as quite as brainy as your writing would indicate you are.

Keep Right on Blabbin' Terri... keep right on blabbin'

"I think men are supposed to be boys always. They just go through different stages and if wives understand that they can love them."
You know, I actually like her better than any other personality in the whole, bloody, sorded campaign. And she would be refreshing as First Lady. Kind of like Barbara Bush on 'shrooms. Can you imagine what she's like when not in front of the media. Holy Hannah.

And she is kind of senior-hot in a "yeah, I've had some work done, but I'm not really pushin' the bounds of creepy... you know... like Michael Jackson is creepy or anything" way.
Say Andrrrew... how's yerrr wee Kerrrry now?

The president and I have the same position, fundamentally, on gay marriage. We do. Same position.
What say you Sully? Anything...? Sully...?

Update: 21:20 CDT and still nada. Come on Sullivan, after this comment, if you still enthusiastically support Kerry, you're just gonna look kinda silly. Oh yeah. Too late.

This is what it comes to...

An eight year old was arrested and taken away in handcuffs for fighting. Yes... for fighting.

Argument turns into a tussle. No knives. No guns. Apparently no one hurt. The other boy runs home to mommy. Mommy calls the cops. Eight year old is hauled off to the hooskow.

This is absolutely insane. But, what do we expect in the age of zero tolerance and a world where feminists want to strip boys of their boyhood.

Punchline - the "victim" was ten. Pussy.
Rekha Basu - Cat Stevens "...crusader for world peace"

Hey Rekha, are you losing your politically correct edge? You see, murderous fatwa following, Hamas supporting peaceful moderate Muslims like old Yusef, don't like to be called "crusaders". The only greater insult you could possibly hurl at Cat would be to call him a ... Jew.

Rekha, you're either just not very bright - and I'm willing to entertain that - or you're a F%#!ing manipulative liar. You count on the ignorance of your readers. I don't know whether to feel sorry for you or declare an anti-Rekha fatwa.

H.L. Mencken on Democracy

Democracy is the theory that holds that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard
